Many Pendle people know of the Pennine Community Credit Union - but do they know how big it really is?

It has already grown to over 6,000 members and has passed a startling new landmark - it has made its 20,000th loan.

These loans have involved £31.5 million being loaned to members in 21,300 loans and all this in just 32 years of existence.

Gerard Spain, PCCU president, said “To have given over 20,000 loans is a remarkable achievement for a local organisation. The best of it, however, is the number of repeat loans.

“Members have been so satisfied with the service they have received that they have come back for more loans. We pride ourselves on being a responsible lender offering a fair rate of interest to all our members”

And Kathryn Fogg, PCCU manager, said: “Our staff and volunteers are quite literally delighted to serve our members and it is only through their hard work and dedication that PCCU has achieved this impressive landmark. The area is lucky to have such a fabulous team working for it.”

PCCU was founded in 1982 and now has offices in Colne, Nelson and Burnley town centres. It can be reached on 691333 or at
