A Burnley shoplifter who struck two days after being given a suspended jail term has kept his freedom.
Burnley magistrates heard how part-time roofer Mark Bailey (35) had a record for dishonesty, but had never stolen from a store before.
Bailey, of Girvan Grove, admitted theft of Paul Smith aftershave worth £17.99 from Boots on November 21st.
The justices extended the operational period of the suspended term by two months and imposed a two week curfew, between 7pm and 7pm.
Mark Williams (defending) said Bailey had misused drugs, his methadone prescription had not been sufficient and it needed to be increased. He had taken some tablets on the day of the offence.
Mr Williams said: “He is working with probation. He is going to deal with his drug issues. He apologises.”
