Appeal after elderly Earby man is burgled

Police are appealing for information after a burglar targeted the home of a 93-year-old man in Earby as he slept.

The burglary took place around 2am on Saturday, October 19th at the pensioner’s home in Barnwood Road in Earby.

The offender has gained entry by throwing a large stone through a lounge window causing it to break. Once inside, several hundreds of pounds from a glass jar, a leather wallet and a bottle of whisky have been stolen.

It is believed the offender has then escaped in a silver car, possibly a Ford Escort.

PC Nicola Breckell said: “This is an appalling incident in which a vulnerable old man has been targeted. I would appeal to anybody that has any information about this burglary that could assist police with our investigation to contact us on 101.”
