M. and T. Polish Butchers in Nelson’s Victory Centre has become the victim of mindless vandals for the second time in less than a week.

Last week, at some point between 5-30am and 7-30am on Tuesday, a window was smashed — although nothing was taken from the property.

The previous week, thieves made their way into the shop by smashing the same window at the Scotland Road side of the premises, before making off with around £300 and causing damage to CCTV cameras and the till.

Stuart Cowgill, caretaker at the Victory Centre, said: “When I got in at half five this morning everything was fine, but when the delivery man came at around half seven he alerted me to the damage.”

Also Kate’s Kitchen, situated across the road from the Victory Centre, was also broken into.

The incidents come just over a month after vandals broke into the empty former Shafi store at the Leeds Road end and caused £10,000-worth of damage.
