Barnoldswick woman admits theft charge

A Barnoldswick woman has walked free from court but was ordered to pay compensation to a couple she stole money from.

Emily May Johnston (21), of Rylstone Drive, pleaded guilty to one count of theft on December 21st at Burnley Magistrates’ Court.

She was given a 12-week jail sentence, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay £2,500 compensation to David Jones and Jessica Lee.

Johnston was also ordered to complete 80 hours unpaid work, £180 court costs and an £80 surcharge.
