Boy (16) arrested after horror attack on Nelson grandad

DETECTIVES investigating an assault on a man in Nelson have arrested a youth.

The 16 year old local youth was arrested on Wednesday morning at an address in Nelson on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent following the attack on David Hutchinson which we reported last week.

Mr Hutchinson, 64, was assaulted near to his home on Leeds Road, Nelson between 10.30pm-11pm on Saturday, June 15th after leaving his address to walk to a nearby shop.

He was approached by someone who punched him, causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head on the pavement.

Although he initially returned home after the attack, Mr Hutchinson was found unconscious by his house-mate the next morning and taken to hospital.

He remains in a serious condition at the Royal Preston Hospital.
