Burnley assault leaves Barnoldswick woman with serious knee injury

Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted in a Burnley pub in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

The 35-year-old woman, from the Barnoldswick area, had been drinking in Burnley town centre with her partner and friends celebrating New Year’s Eve.

While in BB11s bar, at around 2-30am on Thursday morning, she was approached by an unknown man who has pushed her down the stairs.

DS Charlie Haynes, from Burnley CID, said: “This was a nasty, unprovoked attack which has left the victim with a serious injury to her kneecap and ligaments.

“I urge anyone who may have seen this incident, or indeed anyone with any information about it to contact us.”
