Former addict uni student's aftershave theft

A recovering heroin addict who stole aftershave worth £72 from Boots told police that he had no money for his bus journey, a court has heard.

Bradd Reynolds, 34, has not encountered trouble with the law for eight years before his most recent misdemeanor, which took place on Tuesday, September 27th.

The university student defendant was given a 12-month conditional discharge and must pay £85 in costs on top of a £20 victim surcharge.

Reynolds, of Godley Street near Thompson Park in Burnley, was not represented by a solicitor and told Burnley Magistrates Court that he was short of money to the extent that he could not afford a ticket for the bus.

He had been in recovery for just short of three years now, and said: “I have not been going to as many meetings. I think I just had a lapse in judgement that day.

“I regret it. It was embarrassing at the time. I don’t know what I was thinking about.”
