A Foulridge woman who twice raided the home of a village couple aged 85 and 96 and stole £11,500 using a victim’s bank card is facing jail.

Rachel Ryan had been due to face trial over the two burglary allegations at Burnley Crown Court, but entered guilty pleas.

The court was told Ryan repeatedly targeted the vulnerable couple, Alice Nutter, aged 85, and her 96-year-old partner, William Green. In one theft, the defendant took £1,300 from an upstairs room at the victims’ then home in Railway Street last July.

The defendant had earlier admitted fraud, on or between May 28th and June 23rd last year where she used Miss Nutter’s bank card to make a gain for herself.

The court was told the defendant (35), of Robinson Street, is six months pregnant. The victims now live in separate care homes in Colne.

Ryan, who has been on remand, was further remanded in custody until April 10th for a pre-sentence report by Recorder Guy Mathieson.
