Lancashire murder victim named by police as five suspects are arrested for murder

A man who died following a stabbing in Haslingden has been named by police.

Police were called by the ambulance service at around 1.15am yesterday (Thursday, May 2nd) after a man had been found with injuries inside a property on Charles Lane.

Officers attended and the man, who can now be named as Michael Dale, 46, from Haslingden, was found with a stab wound to his chest.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Five people - two men aged 30, a 35-year-old man, a 38-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman - all from Haslingden, have been arrested suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.

Det Ch Insp Gareth Willis from Lancashire’s Force Major Investigation Team (FMIT) said: “These are tragic circumstances and my thoughts are with Mr Dale and his family at this sad time.

“We are in the early stages of our investigation and I have a team of detectives piecing together exactly what has happened to Mr Dale and why.

A post mortem examination to establish the cause of the man’s death is due to take place.
