Man smashed wing mirror after drinking binge

A drunken man who smashed a car wing mirror had shared a litre bottle of vodka followed by 12 pints before he struck.

Bradley Paul Halstead, who had been angry after an altercation on a celebratory birthday night out, told police he bounced around a lot when he was annoyed. He was caught because he had cut himself and left blood at the scene.

Burnley magistrates were told how the 20-year-old said he could barely remember what happened on the boozy night in Colne, on April 9th. He didn’t recall going onto Mason Street, where the offence took place.

The defendant, of Atkinson Street, Colne, admitted damage worth £40.He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and must pay £40 compensation and £85 costs. He had no previous convictions.

He was told by the bench chairman: “You are 20 years of age and drinking that amount of vodka you are not going to have a long and healthy life are you ?” The defendant replied: “No.”
