A woman has appeared in court charged with a £27,000 distraction theft from a Barnoldswick jewellers in 2013.
Romanian national Maria Gabor appeared at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court yesterday after being arrested in Paris on Wednesday, September 23rd.
A European Arrest Warrant was issued in December 2013 for her arrest and Gabor was extradited back to Britain from France on Wednesday to face the charge.
Gabor (38), of no fixed address, made no indication of her plea and was remanded in custody as her case was sent Burnley Crown Court. She will next appear on Thursday, November 12th for a plea hearing.
Gabor is charged with stealing seven trays of jewellery containing a total of 27 rings hallmarked with “FHH” and encrusted with diamonds and sapphires from Huppach’s Jewellers in Rainhall Road on Wednesday, March 13th, 2013.
