RESIDENTS riding mobility scooters in West Craven have been reminded to stay safe.

Sgt Damian Pemberton said there had been a number of complaints to councillors about mobility scooters being driven the wrong way down one-way streets.

Sgt Pemberton said it was not illegal but extra care should be taken for the safety of all road users.

He said: “Although we fully respect they are not breaking the law, for their own safety they need to be careful. “This also goes for riding on narrow footpaths where there may be other pedestrians.”

A meeting of the West Craven Disabled Forum takes place on Friday at Barnoldswick Civic Hall at 1-30 p.m.

Anyone wishing to raise concerns about issues affecting disabled people in West Craven is welcome to attend.

A member of the policing team will also be there to answer any questions.
