Two men jailed after police operation in Burnley leads to seizure of £24,000 worth of crack cocaine and heroin

Two men have been sent to prison after a police operation in Burnley led to the seizure of over £24,000 of crack cocaine and heroin and £9,000 in cash.

Officers from the Targeted Crime Team swooped into action on January 22nd after a member of the team witnessed suspicious activity at AJ Autosmart in Green Street, Burnley.

Several suspected drug users were seen coming and going from the property and when one of the suspected users was stopped and searched a quantity of Class A drugs were recovered.

Police then entered the garage and arrested Aaron McGinty ( 33 )and Michael Hughes ( 35) on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs. A search of the property led to the seizure of over £24,000 worth of crack cocaine and heroin along with £9,000 in cash.

Both men have now pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and have been sentenced at court to three years and nine months in prison.

The cash has been forfeited and the drugs destroyed. Police have vowed to continue to target drug suppliers in the community to bring them to justice.
