Witness appeal after Nelson street assault

POLICE are appealing for help from witnesses after a man was found unconscious in a Nelson street at the weekend.

Officers were called to Railway Street around 1-10 a.m. on Sunday after the man - a local resident aged 52 - was found unconscious and with a head injury.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital where he is now recovering.

The man has now told police he was assaulted by a group of men and officers are appealing for witnesses and are trying to establish exactly what happened.

Det. Sgt Mick Cross, from Pennine Police, said: “We are trying to piece together exactly what has happened to this man and I would appeal for anyone who saw what happened or who has any information to get in touch.”
