Former Colne Golf Club captain, president and auditor John Reynard has died aged 91.

John lived in the area all his life and was on a number of committees and boards.

He was born in Nelson in 1923 and went to Nelson Grammar School and Sheffield University.

He qualified as a chartered accountant and joined the family business Raynard and Sons in Burnley.

That was sold and he then joined the Albert Fisher Group turning it into a company. It was floated on the stock exchange and John then took semi-retirement and took over Shireburne Caravan Park in Clitheroe.

He was captain, president and auditor at Colne Golf Club and was also president of Nelson Rotary Club.

He was Past Worshipful Master of his lodge, was a magistrate in the area and was also a treasurer of the Round Table,

He leaves wife Patricia and daughters Janet and Judith as well as three grandsons.

John’s funeral is next Tuesday (September 8th) at 2-20pm at Burnley Crematorium. The family have asked for donations to the Salvation Army.
