A Lithuanian immigrant turned to stealing after losing his job.

Blackburn magistrates heard he had been given a penalty notice and was on bail for two more offences when he stole Ferrero Rocher from Lidl.

Roslanor Semibokowas (31) of Chapel House Road, Nelson, pleaded guilty to theft. He was remanded on bail to appear before Burnley magistrates on January 12th when he is due to be sentenced on other shoplifting offences.

Janet Syme, defending, said her client had been in the country since January and had been working for most of that time.

“He lost his job but isn’t able to claim benefits until he has been in the country for 12 months,” said Miss Syme. The house he is living in is pretty much a derelict property with no gas or electricity. He became desperate because he had no money for food.”
