A former Olympic gymnast has dazzled Colne primary school children in a display of gymnastic skills.
Double Olympian Hannah Whelan (23), who competed at both the Beijing and London Games, visited Sacred Heart RC Primary School as part of a programme to inspire the next generation in the run up to the Rio Olympics this summer.
Hannah won a gold and bronze medal at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014, as well as a silver and two bronzes at European Championships during her career.
She retired in February last year to focus on encouraging others to take up the sport.
Headteacher at the school, John Robertshaw, said: “It was an excellent afternoon, everybody really enjoyed it.
“It was arranged by Andy Webb for the children and in the hope it would be inspiring to have an Olympic and Commonwealth Games gymnast in as well as a bit of health boost and education day as to what we need to do to stay healthy.
“Before Hannah’s visit, we had a couple of assemblies where we looked at her career and what she achieved.
“Then on the day, she set up a strengthening circuit they would do as a gymnast involving Year 6 down to Reception, we had an assembly talking about her career and how she eats and lives healthily, before finishing off with a demonstration of gymnastic moves.”
