Students from the Creative Mosaic Club at Nelson’s Pendle Vale College have created a large mosaic portraying elements of the surrounding area of Pendle and the campus itself.
The “Heart of Pendle” is now proudly on show outside the main entrance of the campus.
The club was designed to enable students of different ages, backgrounds, nationalities and needs to make friends, have fun, learn a new skill and create something as an individual or a group, which they could be proud of.
Mrs Sharon Bainbridge, who runs the club, said: “The Mosaic was an ongoing project for myself and a selection of students who gave up two lunch breaks a week and took over a year to complete.
“Students worked extremely hard and showed a lot of commitment to the project.
“The completed piece was named following a competition.”
Mr Steve Wilson, headteacher at the Oxford Road school, said: “I would like to thank the students involved and Mrs Bainbridge who all worked extremely hard and have created something fantastic from which the whole of Pendle Vale College and Pendle Community can reap the benefits. I am very much looking forward to the next project.”
