Police are appealing for witnesses after an eight-year-old boy was seriously injured following a hit and run.

The boy was hit by a large silver car in Hebrew Road, Burnley, at around 4-40pm on Saturday.

It is unclear how the collision happened but the child sustained a fractured skull and is currently in Manchester Children's Hospital in a stable condition.

Police are trying to trace the driver.
