Climate Coalition supporters from Pendle constituency met MP Andrew Stephenson as they took part in the first mass lobby of the new Parliament on the importance of tackling climate change.

They were among thousands of others heading to Westminster to take part in the lobby in support of The Climate Coalition’s “For The Love Of…” campaign.

They spoke to Mr Stephenson about the things that they love and want to protect from climate change as well as sharing their vision of a cleaner and greener planet.

Christian Aid’s regional co-ordinator Ruth Platt said: “The UK has benefitted from being a leading industrialised nation, but the dark side of that is the impact we have had on the globe with our decades of carbon emissions.

“It is vital that we act and act urgently to help limit these impacts. The consequences of our slow response already lie with the world’s poor.”

They make it clear that this year is a crucial one in the battle against climate change, which is already hitting poor people hardest. In December, the world’s governments will meet in Paris to reach a fair international climate deal.

As the first country to industrialise, Britain has a moral duty to lead the way in tackling climate change and is among the richest countries with the most capacity to do so.
