A fund-raising car wash to help an Earby teenager enjoy the trip of a lifetime has been a sparkling success.

Caitlin O’Connor (17) is off to Borneo for almost two months in July after being accepted on to a Raleigh International trip.

But before Caitlin can spend a dream seven weeks in the rainforest this summer carrying out ecological work, she needs to raise £3,000.

The car wash proved to be the perfect start cleaning up a total of £560, combined with a cake stall run by Caitlin’s family at the Earby Town Council Rooms.

Caitlin said: “The car wash was fantastic, I never imagined so many people would turn up and support my cause.

“I managed to make an amazing amount through washing cars and selling the coffee and cake.”

The next fund-raiser is an Easter Egg hunt on Saturday, March 28th with a pub quiz and auction at The White Lion where top prizes include a singing masterclass donated by Kiki DeVille, a free MOT at Earby Autos and a fully butchered lamb.
