Fire crews spent four hours at the scene of house blaze last night.

The fire broke out at the end terraced property in Whitehall Street, Nelson at 12-30pm and two fire engines from Nelson, one from Colne and the aerial ladder platform from Hyndburn attended.

On arrival at the scene the firefighters found the second floor of an end terraced property be well alight.

Crews used four breathing apparatus and two hose reels to put out the flames. A positive ventilation unit was also used.

Two triple extension ladders were also required and thermal imaging camera.
