Scores of fundraisers will be taking on the Pendle Three Peaks on Saturday, May 12th, climbing Pendle Hill, Weets and Bouldsworth – a total of 27 miles.

They have been preparing themselves for the gruelling task using the fitness facilities at Pendle Leisure Trust’s centres – Pendle Wavelengths, Nelson; Pendle Leisure Centre, Colne; Seedhill Athletics and Fitness Centre, Nelson and West Craven Sports Centre, Barnoldswick.

The Trust’s gym manager, Luke Allwood, said: “Every year we host a challenge for our members. For the last couple of years we have completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks, but this year we wanted a new and different challenge, so we are delighted to be working alongside Pendleside Hospice, a local charity close to our hearts.

“We always have such a great response from our members who want to challenge themselves and put into practice the training they have done in our gyms leading up to the event.

“It’s a great opportunity to get everyone together for a fun – and testing – day out and it’s always a great team effort with everyone helping each other to reach the finishing line.

“We will be setting off from Seedhill Athletics and Fitness centre at 7am on May 12th and hoping to complete the three peaks in a day - with a well-earned drink or two at the end of it!”
