A gardening stalwart, who for years has been at the heart of a Colne environmental action group, has stepped down from his role.
Michael Osborn took over as project leader of Colne in Bloom following the death of Derek Gascoigne in 2010.
He has since helped volunteers see success in a number of Britain in Bloom competitions — with Colne scooping gold in the “Large Town” category of North West in Bloom for the past four years, and winning a silver gilt award in last year’s Britain in Bloom. Results from this year’s contests, which Mr Osborn was heavily involved in, will be announced in October.
Chair of Colne in Bloom, Coun. Dorothy Lord said: “He has been absolutely passionate and we will miss him tremendously. He will be a very hard act to follow.
“We wish him and his wife Janet all the very best and hope he can now enjoy a very well earned rest.”
