GARDENING enthusiasts in Colne have been recognised for their positive contribution to the local environment.
Colne In Bloom’s annual Green Fingers competition was held at Primet Hill Community Centre, and celebrated all the hard work of local schools, businesses, and members of the community over the past year.
BBC Radio Lancashire’s gardening expert, Bill Blackledge, acted as special guest, and was so well received that organisers are now hoping he will make a return next year.
Colne in Bloom’s secretary Louise Cooper said: “The event went really well — it was a lovely evening.
“Everyone turned up to receive their award.
“Bill Blackledge’s visit made a nice finish to the evening. After handing the awards out to everyone, he did a little bit of Gardener’s Question Time.
“We will definitely be inviting him to come along again.”
