Everyone likes a story with a happy ending, especially when it involves a young person achieving their goals. Yazmin Cawood is one of the success stories of Nelson and Colne College Career Academy.

After impressing a local employer with her passion and natural flair for all things digital, Yazmin was offered an internship within their IT Department.

During this time, Yazmin continued to shine, helping raise the company’s profile both locally and nationally by setting up social media networking including Twitter, YouTube and Facebook and writing news articles for their website.

A mini work placement was arranged with another local business, creative and digital agency, Concept4, for Yazmin to find out more about her chosen field of social media.

Working within their busy digital media department she has been learning about other disciplines such as search engine optimisation and digital marketing campaigns. The digital team have been so impressed with Yazmin’s enthusiasm and desire for progression that she has been offered a two-year digital media and IT apprenticeship.

Jane Cleave, managing director of Concept4 and chairman of Nelson and Colne Career Academy, said :“We are great believers in nurturing young talent through Career Academies UK and the national apprenticeship programme. We are very excited about what the future holds for Yazmin and for Concept4.”
