The parents of a baby girl, who was stillborn at Burnley General Hospital, have raised a staggering £7,000 in just 11 weeks to buy a cold cot that will help other grieving parents come to terms with their loss.
Sarah Bernasconi and her partner Mark Parsons were devastated in June when their baby daughter, Maggie Pearl, was stillborn.
Despite their grief, the couple set about raising money for the Trust for a cold cot in Maggie’s name that other parents who suffer a stillbirth or a baby or toddler that passes away will be able to use.
The skin of a stillborn begins to change and break down after a couple of hours which can limit the time a family would be able to spend with their baby. This cot is kept cold by a special cooling system and means families get to spend precious extra time with their child. The couple were also able to buy keepsake boxes for parents to create special memories of their child.
