Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson has been nominated for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Patsy Carlton Award 2011 by constituent Mary Brennan, who plays a leading role in the Barnoldswick and Earby Bosom Friends Group.
Mr Stephenson said: “I am surprised and honoured to have been nominated for this award, named after Patsy Carlton, the Lib Dem MP for Cheadle, who lost her battle with breast cancer in June, 2005.
“This has a very personal significance to me as before her election as an MP, Patsy Carlton was my science teacher at school.
“I have very fond memories of her as a teacher and remember the huge amount of work the work she did to help those affected by breast cancer. I feel very humbled to have been nominated for an award named in her memory.”
