Marathon man John Rawcliffe, who has clocked up hundreds of miles to raise money for residents at the nursing home where he works, is lacing up his trainers for another runathon!
John is to run 200 laps, which is the equivalent to 50 miles, at Seedhill Athletic Track and people are being asked to guess how long they think it will take him for £1 a go.
There is a prize of a spa voucher for whoever guesses the nearest correct time.
All the money John raises will be put towards activities at the Peel Gardens in Vivary way, Colne, where he is activities co-ordinator.
John (48) said: “So far I have managed to raise about £30 so I am hoping that once people know what I am doing they will have a guess because all the money is going towards a really good cause.
“I am setting off at 7am and hope to be finished by 5pm but we will have to see on the day. A few people have volunteered to run with me and a few will be coming to watch at some point during the day.”
Last year John completed two marathons in one day on a treadmill, completing the arduous challenge in nine hours, 20 minutes. And in 2013 he ran five marathons in five days.
His awesome efforts are all part of his job at the care home which involves fund raising towards outings and events. John, who also works as a fitness instructor at Pendle Wavelengths in Nelson, is today hosting an open day at Peel Gardens.
All are welcome to go along to the event which runs from 11am to 4pm and includes a variety of events and activities for people to get involved with. There will also be stalls, a raffle and tombola.
John will also be showcasing the activities he refers to as OHMPH activities which stands for Our Home Makes People Happy
If you would like to make a guess for John’s time on his next marathon attempt, which he is completing on Sunday, July 26th, he can be contacted at the home on 871243.
