Helene Stansfield is jumping for joy after starting her new business with medals.
Helene has taken over Pendle Gymnastics Club from Pendle Leisure Centre in Colne and in her first competition as “the boss” the girls won an array of medals at a competition for beginners at Preston Gymnastics Club.
“It’s the best feeling in the world when hard work pays off as we have been with them every step of the way and they have got their rewards,” said Helene (24).
Helene, along with sisters Katy and Sally, have been involved in gymnastics to Lancashire standard all their lives.
They carried on volunteering and coaching after they stopped competing and Helene worked at Pendle Leisure Trust for nine years, which involved partly running the gymnastics club.
She left in February but kept her hand in volunteering along with her sisters and has now taken over Pendle Gymnastics Club.
“It’s exciting for me as it’s my own company and my sisters, who are teachers, are still helping me out and working for me in their spare time just because they love the sport,” said Helene.
“We had our first inter-club competition at Preston and the gymnasts were all well-placed which means we have plenty to build on and will go from strength to strength.”
The gymnastics club is for children aged two-and-a-half up to 16 and takes place every night at Pendle Leisure Centre in Colne from 4-6pm.
