Mentor Boy George called her performance “amazing” as he put her straight through to the next round.

There was no shortage of praise from the other judges either.

Ricky Wilson said she was now his favourite girl left on the show while Will.i.am called her one of his favourite people.

When asked if she would like to go to a Cody concert, Paloma Faith said: “I would be there with bells on. I was a fan from the beginning and I hope I can be like her when I grow up.”

Before the performance, TV audiences got the chance to see the former Blessed Trinity pupil at her home in Nelson.

“My family has been great,” she said. “They are so proud of me and are constantly watching my performances.”

Audiences also saw Cody enjoying her new job at Sanctuary Rock Bar, Burnley, where her boss, Lisa, described her as an entertaining and sweet girl who everybody loves.

On Saturday Cody will sing live with Boy George as the public vote for who they want to see in the final. The Voice is on BBC One from 7pm.
