Sixteen interested ramblers took the opportunity to discover some of Earby’s history on the opening weekend of the Pendle Walking Festival.

Two members of Earby and District Local History Society, Margaret Brown and Wendy Faulkner, led a seven mile history walk starting at Earby Youth Hostel, the former home of Katherine Glasier.

Society secretary Mrs Brown said: “Everybody enjoyed it. The reason we did the walk was to take in the Corn Mill.

“Our archaeologist believes it could date back as far as Saxon times. That is a project for 2016.”
