The British Red Cross will be operating a stall in Colne Market this Saturday between 9am and 3pm to help those affected by Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean.

The stall, which will be raising much-needed funds for the victims of the destruction wrought by the hurricane on overseas British territories, will be fundraising to provide shelter, food, and essential care for the people affected.

The Red Cross is appealing for anyone with items they wish to donate to do so, with their Caribbean Typhhon Fund aiming to assist the particularly-affected islands of Anguilla, the British Virgin Islands, and the Turks and Caicos.

Almost £1.8billion-worth of damage has been caused to Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands alone, with winds reaching 185mph and waves reaching heights of six metres during the Category five hurricane.
