An inquest has been opened and adjourned into the death of a Nelson man whose body was found at his home in a badly decomposed state.

Mr Michael Fisher (43) was discovered lying on the floor of his home in Holly Street on Tuesday, May 31st, with evidence of drugs paraphernalia and alcohol around him.

Deputy East Lancashire Coroner Mr Mark Williams heard that Mr Fisher suffered from epilepsy and both drug and alcohol problems.

Pathologist Dr Muammer Al-Mudhaffer, who conducted the post-mortem examination, has requested further toxicological and histological tests be carried out to determine the cause of Mr Fisher’s death.

Mr Williams, sitting in Burnley, adjourned an inquest until September 26th to allow further tests to be made.
