AN inspirational Colne woman spent time at a Pendle blood session to help donors see how they are helping patients like herself.
Brave psychology graduate, Sam McCartney (38), of Hagg Street, was unexpectedly diagnosed with Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura earlier this year. The former UCLan student told how had it not been for people giving donations, she might not be alive today.
To show her appreciation and to help people understand what TTP entails, she spent time talking to donors at a blood session at Nelson and Colne College.
Sam, who works for Alderson and Horan Funeral Services, said: “People said it felt more worthwhile giving blood that day as they had met someone who had benefited from blood donation.”
