Jasper lined up to be the next Dynamo
Jasper Cherry won the fundraising competition at the Burnley Youth Theatre on Queen’s Park Road with a dazzling display of illusions.
The Briercliffe Primary School pupil has been practising magic for over a year, having impressed friends and family with early attempts after being inspired by a certain famous television magician.

Jasper and his mother, Clare Cherry, 39, of Stirling Court, heard about the competition after Jasper’s performance as Alfred Perks in The Railway Children at the Youth Theatre, which prompted the blossoming performer to jump at the chance to wow the audiences with his magic.
“[I’m] super proud,” said Clare. “I was absolutely buzzing [when he won]. He’s gaining more and more confidence.
“At the Youth Theatre, he showed some of them a few of his tricks and they said ‘there’s this competition coming up, why doesn’t he enter?’”

Jasper, whose favourite trick is called the eight and nine, said: “[The show] was really fun. I was really really pleased [when I won].”
