Enterprising and community minded people who want to improve the area where they live are being given the opportunity to put their ideas into action.
An event will be held tonight where people can pitch their ideas to improve the Bradley area of Nelson which has been chosen to receive £1M worth of funding through the Big Lottery Fund’s Big Local programme which gives residents themselves the chance to say how they would like to see their environment improved.
The "Bradley Soup" event will take place at the Grassroots Centre in Leeds Road between 6pm and 8pm.
The idea is that guests listen to the ideas put forward before enjoying a supper of soup.
This gives them the chance to mull over the ideas and vote for their favourite. The winner will then be given the money taken on the door to help fund their plan with the promise they will have a progress report within three months.
Ideas to improve the area include everything from training and employment schemes to tackling anti-social behaviour, creating new community facilties and providing more activities for young people.
