The beach and a number of seaside activities were brought to a Nelson academy and there was fun to be had in spades.
Castercliff Primary Academy, in Marsden Hall Road North, was transformed for the celebrations, and saw youngsters enjoying an array of fun activities, including donkey rides, bouncy castles, a mini animal farm, and a sandpit area.
Every child was given a voucher for a free ice cream, and were also able to take part in giant games, such as Connect Four, and indoor crafts.
Julie Burnside, Executive Principal of Castercliff Academy, said: “Usually we go on a beach trip for the end of term celebrations, but this year we decided to bring the beach to Castercliff.
“It went down a treat with the children, who did not stop smiling for the full four hours of the fun day.
“The children have worked so hard this year, developing a range of skills, including reading, writing, Maths, communication, and the use of technology, and we felt this would be an ideal way to reward their efforts and help them enter the summer holidays in style!”
Leva Jarosiunaite (5), said: “I enjoyed the donkeys the most, because we got to go up and down the grass on them.
“I enjoyed the jumping castle and the swingball, and I picked up an apple with my mouth from a big bucket with water in it. The teachers did the day so children can have lots of fun and can be excited.”
