Little Ava's big chop for charity

Ava-Rose Hughes (7) from Earby had a flowing 12in lopped off her hair and donated it to The Little Princess Trust and Pendleside Hospice.

The Little Princess Trust supply real-hair wigs available, free of charge, to children and young adults up to the age of 24, who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other illnesses. The chop took place at Halo in Barnoldswick, who kindly made a beautiful job of Ava’s new bob style hair do.

Not only that, but Ava also raised £641 for Pendleside Hospice who provide round-the-clock, end of life care for people in the community, and has done so now for three decades.

Ava’s grandmother received care at Pendleside when Ava was just a few months old and the family continue to talk about the wonderful support she was given during her stay there.

Proud dad Brenden Hughes said: “I’m so proud of Ava, she’s done such a wonderful job in raising these much needed funds for the hospice. It was her own idea to have her hair cut so it could be made into a wig and given to another child who needs it.”
