M65 congestion fears over Nelson mill homes plan

proposals for a major housing development on the site of a Nelson mill will go back before Pendle councillors on Tuesday night.

Members of the Development Management Committee will decide whether the suggested access to Reedyford Mill is adequate.

The council’s Nelson Committee has already turned down the plans, against the recommendation of planning officers, on the grounds the proposed 134 homes is too large a number and would lead to traffic congestion around the access planned for the Westfield end of the site, just yards from the M65 roundabout.

The mill is currently used for warehousing and the Gift Tree Stores outlet is housed at its Westfield end.
