Mark Andrew Jones (44) was driving his BMW when it hit a central reservation barrier between Junctions 9 and 10 of the M65 on February 13th.

Pathologist Dr Richard Prescott, who conducted a post-mortem examination, has found the cause of death was a result of a fatty liver, which can cause complex metabolic derangements resulting in sudden death.

Despite Mr Jones’s car flipping on its roof and travelling some distance, his physical injuries were limited to cuts to his left hand and forehead.

A full inquest, which was due to be held on June 16th, is now not needed.

East Lancashire Coroner Mr Richard Taylor recorded a conclusion of natural causes.
