Man suffers burns in suspected Colne gas explosion

Police and the fire service are at the scene of a suspected gas explosion in Colne.

The incident occurred at a mid-terraced property in Burnley Road opposite the Skoda garage at approximately 12-20pm.

A man has been taken to Wythenshawe Hospital by the air ambulance with burns while another man has been treated at the scene and was described by police as “walking wounded”.

The roof of the property has collapsed at the rear and there is significant damage inside the house, according to the police.

Two fire engines and crews from Nelson and the Urban Search and Rescue Team firefighters from Chorley responded to the incident.
