Market stall bacon boss Christopher dies

The managing director of a business which had shops and market stalls across the North West has died at the age of 73.

Christopher Redman was at the helm of the business whose outlets over the years included a stall on Burnley market and more than 30 shops including ones in Nelson, Colne and Burnley.

Mr Redman died at his home in Holme Terrace, Nelson, on Tuesday.

He was born in Burnley and had lived in the town all his life until moving to Nelson about six years ago.

Mr Redman was educated at Rossall School on the Fylde and followed his grandfather into the retail business.

He was a season ticket holder at Burnley FC until around two years ago and had been a squash player at Reedley Squash Club.

He is survived by his wife Susan and sons Matthew, Timothy and Jonathan.

The funeral takes place at Burnley Crematorium at 1-40pm on Wednesday.
