PLANS for major extensions at Nelson’s biggest mosque are to go before councillors on Monday.
The Ghausia Jamia Mosque has applied to build two-storey extensions to the north-east, north-west and south-west elevations of its Clayton Street mosque.
It also wants to fit a replacement roof and a single-storey extension to the rear.
Members of Pendle Council’s Nelson Committee are told in a report from planning officer Helen Garnett the extensions would increase the floor space of the mosque from 1,086 sq. mettres to 2,382 sq. metres. There would also be changes to the mosque’s dome and roof.
Members are recommended to approve the application.
