An outline application for 39 homes in Nelson has been refused by councillors.

Targetside Ltd has applied for the outline planning consent on land between Fletcher Street and Bracewell Street with access off Priory Chase.

Pendle Council’s Nelson Area Committee decided to refuse the application on grounds that the access off Priory Chase, which is currently a cul-de-sac, was unsuitable.

The application has attracted 13 objections and is on land adjacent to the former James Nelson Memorial Sports Club where 106 homes were approved on appeal.

However, because Lancashire County Council found no highway issues in the application, the plan will be considered again by Pendle Council’s Development Management Committee when it meets on Monday night.
