A hotly-contested "Are you smarter than a 10-year-old" in Nelson has crowned participants from Lomeshaye Junior School as the eventual winners after representatives from Years 3, 4, 5, and 6 battled it out.

The competition welcomed pupils from Bradley Primary School in Nelson and Heasandford Primary School in Burnley to Lomeshaye Junior School on Norfolk Street on Friday 19th May, with the young academic all-rounders representing their schools in their own version of "Are You Smarter Than A 10 Year Old?"

Across a swathe of categories - including maths, science, spelling, geography, and history - each school had a representative from each year group from Year 3 to Year 6 who competed to make it through each round.

"It was a very intense afternoon filled with excitement and tension," said Lomeshaye Lunchtime Supervisor, Bushra Saleem. "We would like to say a huge thank you to both schools that participated."

At the the end of the competition, each participant was given a medal and certificate for taking part, while the winning team's members were given a medal, a certificate, and a prize for their exploits.
