A Nelson school has re-designed its outdoor area to make it a much more attractive and editorial area for the young pupils.
And Pendle Conservative Parliamentary candidate Andrew Stephenson went along to officially open it.
So there is a new outdoor area at Walverden Primary School with lots of hands-on experiences within a natural environment for the children who study there.
Mrs Rachel Bridges, the school’s foundation stage leader, made it clear they had had a very old area outside the school and said: “It was a very old style. It didn’t give children the experiences they needed. We put the project together – it took a while.
“Northern Lights on Lomeshaye Industrial Estate did all the work for us. It was designed by the children and the staff. We laid on what we wanted.”
There are lots of things including a wendy house, slides and even a mud kitchen where small minibeasts may live! The children are loving it now.
The school includes a nursery too, of course, so lots of children were around there when Mr Stephenson opened it by cutting the ribbon.
