Next-door neighbours have taken their shared passion for bespoke furniture to open a new business together in Colne.
Simon Davies (25) and Garry Heys (53), both of Grange Street, Burnley, officially opened the doors to G & S Bespoke Furniture over the weekend.
Based in Varley Street, the firm offers an array of indoor and outdoor furniture. Customers are also able to have unique pieces designed and made for them. According to the duo there are no restrictions, and they are willing to take on any idea that is thrown their way. Simon, who has previously worked for another bespoke furniture company and in retail, said: “We had a conversation out in the back yard one day, and decided to just open up a business together.
“It is what we both love - it is our passion, not just a job - so we decided to take the leap of faith. At our open days we had about 50 people come along, and they really like the furniture and the designs. If people have their own ideas for a piece of furniture, they can bring it into us, and we have a special programme, where people can see the product in 3D before it has actually been made.”
As part of their new venture, the duo have also renovated their business premises, which is the site of an old laundrette. They are now looking forward to working together and taking their business forward.
Simon added: “We are
feeling good about it - there is excitement and worry, but that’s what happens when you open your own business.Where we are is well connected to the motorway, but it is also off a nice quiet street.”
