A dessert parlour created on the first floor of a prominent building has failed in its bid to get planning permission.
The parlour is above a take-away in Leeds Road, Nelson. The application went to the Nelson Area Committee at the request of councillors.
When neighbours were asked for their views on the proposed parlour they told planners the work had already been carried out. Mr N. Iqbal applied to change the use of the first floor above the take-away to a dessert parlour, along with a kitchen and preparation area and seating for customers.
Noise, litter and opening hours were also issues, as the hours of business had been given as “not known” on the application. Recommending refusal, planning officers said the business belonged in a town centre, and that allowing it to go ahead would be detrimental to the vitality and viability of Nelson town centre.
